Applied 2020 is a program created to support young designers and help them build a stronger foundation to set them up to be able to break into industry. A core piece of this program is the community, including mentors, buddies, and other students. As such, we want everyone involved in this program to be respectful and mindful of others.
Our Mentors, Buddies, and the Applied organizing team are all volunteering their time. Because of this, we want to remind students to be mindful of that and that we're counting on students to consistently:
We're all here to support students and make sure they're on the right path, but it's on the students to take ownership of their projects and accept responsibility of both success or failure.
Be respectful of others! Be mindful of their time, their input, and their energy.
Show up and show out.
No one's forcing you to be here but you're only going to get out what you put into this program. Try your best and challenge yourself to do your best work.
Discriminatory jokes, language, and hate speech is prohibited in this program.
Verbal abuse, insults, or threats towards others is prohibited in this program.
We know life can get busy. If you have absolutely can't make it to a meeting, make sure to communicate with them about it.
