Program Overview 📖
- Each student will have eight weeks to complete a project on their own.
- Students will select a project to choose from a curated list of prompts that are similar to projects one may find at a Product Design internship.
- There are no submissions in this program, Students are responsible for the work they show to their cohort, Buddies, and Mentors.
- Students will fill up a design brief for their project that will help them better understand the problem, context, and necessary requirements for success.
- Each project will follow a typical User-Centered Design (UCD) process:
- Throughout the program, students will touch on each phase of the UCD process including problem definition, synthesis, ideation, and implementation.
- Students can choose which phase they want to emphasize / prioritize on to reach their end goal of a final high fidelity design with the help of their buddies and mentors.
- While the projects will follow a "typical" UCD process, not all projects are the same and some may present students with a different set of problems or challenges, requiring a different solution and process.
- For each week:
- Students are expected to show up to a critique session with their group, Buddy, and Mentor and present their deliverables.
- Students will have 30 minute one on one meetings with their Buddies.
- For every other week, students will have a 30 minute one on one meeting with their Mentors.
- There will also be guest lectures and workshops throughout the program.
- Throughout the program, students will have two reflection check-ins with their mentors to chat about their performance, reflect on their skills and growth, and talk about how they can improve for the future.
Group Logistics 🙌🏻
- The program will be split into groups of 3/4 students which assigned at the start of the program.
